Cat Foster Application
Thank you for your interest in joining our foster program! Please make sure you type your correct email address as instructions for the next steps will be sent through there in the next 7 business days.

This program is not for adoption, though some foster cats may eventually be adopted by their foster families. Cats in need of foster care include kittens too young for adoption and cats with medical or behavioral needs who require extra support.

As a foster caregiver, you must be able to:
  • Transport cats to and from the shelter during business hours
  • Handle possible emergency trips to a vet in Appleton or Menasha after hours
  • Bring cats to the shelter during normal hours, even if it conflicts with your work schedule
You must be comfortable giving oral medications, feeding the cats, cleaning litter boxes, and monitoring their health. OAHS provides all supplies and medical care, but you must be able to keep foster cats separate from your household pets for at least two weeks (or longer if needed).

A clean, low-stress environment and regular interaction are important for the cats’ well-being and success in this program.

You are not responsible for adoptions. Foster cats will not be available for adoption until approved by OAHS, and all applications are handled by the Cat Adoptions team.

You must stay in regular communication with the Foster Coordinator and the Caregiving and Medical teams. While foster placement depends on the time of year, we ask that you remain active so we know your availability and can match you with future fosters.
