In memory of her Basenji “brother” Murphy, an anonymous OAHS supporter is matching dollar for dollar up to $10,000 in donations for a new animal transport vehicle for the Oshkosh Area Humane Society from October 1-21. Our most recent vehicle broke down on September 15 and has been deemed beyond repair. Since then staff have been using their personal vehicles to transport animals for a variety of reasons including bringing animals to offsite veterinary clinics for medical care, picking up animals found as strays in order to get them to safety and transferring animals from other shelters where they may not otherwise get the opportunity for adoption. A safe, reliable transport van is critical in continuing our Lifesaving Mission. Thanks to the generosity of this donor, we have an amazing opportunity to secure a new vehicle that will help save more lives. Please consider donating whatever amount you can.
More about Murphy: Since Valentine’s Day in 2002 at 8 weeks old, Murphy lived with his “mom” Kathy, as a very loved, very pampered member of the family. Murphy loved walks, cheese and any other kind of treat. One of his favorite things was water with ice cubes. He slept in bed, under the covers every night and enjoyed sunbathing in his big wing-backed chair and “yodeling” his thoughts on any matter. Kathy passed away in 2011, but his “sister” ensured that her beloved Murphy was able to stay in his home for the rest of his life. Murphy passed away from kidney failure and degenerative myelopathy on October 10, 2017. This gift given “For the Love of Murphy” will ensure thousands of other animals have the opportunity for a loving home just like Murphy had.
