*Dog Adoption Counselor*
Wage: Starting at $14/hr. (pay increase possible depending on experience)
The regular work week for this position is as follows:
Tuesday - Friday: 9:30 am - 6 pm;
Saturday 10 am - 3 pm
Do you care about dogs and want to help place dogs into loving homes through matchmaking? Consider a career as a dog adoption counselor! Dog Adoption Counselors will assist in processing applications, scheduling appointments, introducing dogs to potential adopters, utilizing matchmaking guidelines to adopt out dogs to appropriate families, ensuring proper notes and information are gathered about each dog, entering information into the shelter management software, answering general questions from the public, and more.
This is an hourly position, requiring the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with handling dogs, particularly large, active dogs.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. unassisted.
- Mature judgement and the ability to interact with the public, shelter staff, and volunteers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Professional appearance and a positive attitude.
- Ability to learn and perform computer database entry and reports.
- Dog handling experience in a professional environment preferred.

*Dog Enrichment Team Member*: Excellent part-time opportunity for retirees, students, those looking for extra income, etc.
Part-Time/Hourly Position 12 - 25 hrs/wk (must be at least 18 years old)
Must be able to work a minimum of three shifts per week, including three weekend shifts a month
Wage: Starting at $11/hr, may be negotiable depending on experience
Dogs at OAHS are walked at least twice daily for their health and wellbeing. Interested parties must have experience with handling dogs of all sizes , strengths and activity levels - particularly medium-to larger-size active dogs. Also must be willing to do necessary kennel cleaning and feeding. Dog behavior and handling training will be provided. Applicants must be capable of working independently, pay attention to detail and work efficiently within time constraints. Employees typically are assigned one shift per workday - either morning or afternoon.
Weekday shifts (Mon - Fri): 8 am - 12 pm and 3 pm - 6 pm. We are currently in need of morning shift employees: 8 am - 12 pm.
Weekend shifts are Saturday 7 am - 11 am and 2 pm - 5 pm; and Sunday 8 am - 12 pm and 2 pm - 5 pm.

Cleaner/ Floater Position - Part-Time/Hourly 16-24 hrs/wk, mornings
Wage: Starting at $11/hr, may be negotiable depending on experience
This staff member is responsible for providing a clean, healthy, and humane environment for all animal residents for as long as they reside at OAHS, and to ensure that all areas of the shelter are clean and presentable for OAHS hours of operation.
- This position includes, but is not limited to, cleaning dishes, litter boxes, cat/dog carriers, laundry, and occasionally assisting with cleaning animal’s enclosures.
- Ensure that your assigned cleaning areas are disinfected on a regular and timely basis as often as necessary to maintain health and cleanliness standards.
- Advise appropriate supervisor/manager of any observation made regarding health and wellbeing of animals.
- Ensure that all areas are cleaned, disinfected, and ready for operation.
- Assist shelter staff and volunteers with various activities as requested by the Cleaning Manager or Executive Director.
- Follow specific animal feeding, handling, etc., guidelines as instructed by Caregiving Staff, Admissions Manager, and/or Medical Coordinator
