Oshkosh Area Humane Society
A life saving shelter
The Oshkosh Area Humane Society's purpose is to find homes for pets whose owners can no longer care for them.
We realize that sometimes it is necessary to find a new home for your pet and the decision to do so is often difficult. The staff of the OAHS is committed to helping you with that decision by offering behavioral counseling or taking your pet if necessary. However, we do ask that if possible, you research training options before surrendering a pet due to behavior problems. If you need training advice please contact a professional behaviorist/trainer.
Be assured that if you do surrender a pet, we will do everything possible to find that pet a new home. We ask that you call and make an appointment to surrender your pet, so we can give you and your pet the time you deserve, while obtaining the information and history needed to make a good adoption match.
Surrendering Your Pet
The Oshkosh Area Humane Society is contracted for animal services with the City of Oshkosh. Pet owners living outside the City of Oshkosh who wish to surrender their animal are required to pay a $50 surrender fee.
The cost to process paperwork, feed, and care for each animal during their stay at the shelter is approximately $240. If you are surrendering a pet, please consider donating toward any of the services shelter animals receive, or consider sponsoring the adoption fee of the animal you are surrendering … this will help your pet find a new home.
