Welcome,

The Oshkosh Area Humane Society is a Life Saving Shelter.  “No animal will be euthanized for space”.  OAHS cannot accomplish this mission with out the support of the community.  Ordinary people are doing extraordinary things; opening their hearts and homes to cats and kittens in need of temporary housing, saving lives.  Plain and simple; the need for feline foster homes is urgent!

Through the foster care program the “shelter” is no longer limited by its’ four walls.   The shelter is now part of your neighbor’s home, your cousin’s home, the coach’s home.  Now your home can become an extension of OAHS.

Our Foster Care program provides a loving temporary home to those animals that are either too young or too sick to be adopted immediately and allows them the opportunity to become strong and healthy before being placed up for adoption. You will be provided with food and supplies for the animal you will foster, such as litter, feeding dishes, toys etc. Any medical cost must be pre-approved by OAHS staff or at the foster home’s expense.

We ask that your personal animals are current on vaccines.  You will also need to provide an adequate space for isolation of feline fosters.

The first step in becoming a foster home is to attend our Intro to Foster Care Class, the 2nd Thursday of every month at the shelter from 6-7pm.

Your generosity with your time, home and love will save lives.

Thank you,

Sharon Wagner
